When you researched the community and district, you were provided tables to help with the task of making sense of the various graphs available on Information Works site. For your school report, you should make sense of the data one your own. Remember that you can email your instructor if you have any difficulties.
To research your school, you should consider the questions about schools that we brainstormed in class and decide on some questions that YOU think should be answered in your description of your school You should research at least four of the indicators on the school report page for your school to gather information that you feel will serve as evidence for your description.
Questions that you would like to find answers for: Is a charter school any more successful at educating disadvantaged students in Providence? (the education standards for lack of a better alternative will be set by standardized tests such as the SATs, the New England common assessments and the salt reports)
Does the small environment of this charter school support a egree of student success? (This qualification is to be differentiated from education by factors such as graduation rates and college acceptance rates, and college retention rates).
how challenging his application process to a charter school like this? (Compared to Chicago schools in Savage inequalities)
1. Name of Indicator: New England common assessments scores in mathematics combined with SAT scores where reported
Data: These results show a commitment to, perhaps a policy of all students taking the SATs.in spite of the fact that all students take the SAT is, or perhaps because of it. The average score for Times2 Academy are substantially lower than both Rhode Island state average and the national average at a mere 403 compared to a national average of 510. This suggests that in spite of the school being math and charter oriented that there is a breakdown between the content of the SAT exam and the curriculum of the school. Whether that is in formatting of testing or formatting instruction. We do not know.
This information is not supported by the average scores of the same students on their mathematics test of the NCAP where we see similar deficiencies or breakdowns. Times2 Academy consistently makes AYP and meets the 17 benchmarks and always scoring higher on students proficient within mathematics.

Summary statement: the school is a very strong foundation in mathematics but there are conflicting numbers that do not allow for easy conclusions to be made. Without further inquiry or more data available the only conclusion we can make is that the school is successful in making AYP as demanded by no Child left behind, but that the SAT scores where reported significantly lower than the state and national average.
2. Name of Indicator: Salt Reports at the Elementary, Middle and High School Level regarding student learning experiences in teacher practices

3. Name of Indicator: College Acceptance, Graduation, and College Retention Rates
Data: based on the reported advanced placement test scores shown on information works 20% of students at times to Academy took advanced placement exams, 7% scored at college mastery level.this data needs to be prefaced by the fact that only six students were recorded as taking the exams, between 06 students 14 exams were taken in only one was at the college master level. in addition to this there are some surprising statistics with graduation rates at the school. This school has a 100% graduation rate with zero dropouts. This seems very unusual but it may be a product of the unique atmosphere than the school. unfortunately, have been unable to locate any data regarding acceptance rates to institutions of higher education. I have been able to find aspirational information (unfortunately, this does not necessarily state the facts) which show a very large percentage of students interested in seeing some level of higher education
Summary statement:
4. Name of Indicator: School safety
Data: overall, the school appears to be very safe place with a minor drug problem and low instances of theft. 8% of students said they had been offered drugs or alcohol within school, 20% reported being robbed within school once or more.in addition to this data coming from information works

B. SALT Reports
In addition to survey data reported in Information Works, the SALT Surveys and the SALT visit report provides an "on the ground" description of what a group of visiting evaluators found while visiting the school for several days. After learning more about the SALT cycle from the link above, review the most recent report for your school and summarize what you find:
